Naseem joined Northzone in 2023 and is a Vice President based in London. He invests across sectors with a particular interest in complex and fragmented industries undergoing fundamental shifts, whether through new technologies or evolving human behaviour. His investments span areas including energy, fintech, vertical and enterprise AI, marketplaces, consumer and gaming, particularly where real-time data and automation are reshaping how industries operate.

Prior to Northzone, Naseem worked at J.P. Morgan focusing on principal investments and strategy across the investment bank, with an emphasis on energy and fintech. Earlier in his career, he was an investor at Creator Fund and spent time with Africa-focused venture firm Outlierz Ventures.

Naseem started making websites and small businesses as a teenager, which later led him to the world of venture. He holds a degree in Business & Management from Durham University.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

It’s simple but not easy.

Where would we find you outside of work?

Usually trying a new restaurant. I’m slightly obsessed with them and tend to follow chefs the same way some people follow sports teams seeing where they move and trying their new kitchens.

Restaurants are super interesting. They’re incredibly competitive, have a large emotional element and most fail within 18 months. Product, psychology and experience all collide and in many ways they’re not that different from tech startups.

I geek out on…rabbit holes

I tend to start with very simple, almost childlike questions - things like what happens to EVs when they die?, what comes after RL? or why does WhatsApp still exist?

I’ll then speak to founders, operators, end-users and others across the ecosystem, pulling the thread. Almost all of the time it leads to interesting conversations, occasionally it leads to an investment.
